Happy February (& Happy Heart Month) to our Chicks and Peeps!

We have been busy this year and it's only mid-Feburary! Thanks to our members spreading the good word about our organization, we scored another interview on KPRC, the local NBC news affiliate to discuss our mission and upcoming events. Within minutes on the air our iPhones and Blackberry's were going wild with emails about a few great non-profits both far and wide to share with you.

Though we hate to be the bearer of bad news, please note our 2010 "official" Charity Chicks calendar is full, but don't forget about our FB page! It was created for YOU to promote causes near and dear to your heart. Feel free to link to events you are participating in or planning, charities that hold a special place in your heart or friends/family or strangers that need our prayers. Please take advantage of it (if you aren't on FB and want to let us know about a local upcoming event at least 2 weeks away, email us a link with the info and we'll put it up on our website).

We could use some help compiling a list of national and local non-profits broken down by causes to share with everyone. If anyone is interested in helping take on this massive task to update the RESOURCE PAGE, please email us.

"Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, nothing is going to get better. It's not." ~Dr. Seuss

Thank you for caring.
Chicks and Cheers,

Jayme & Tam'ra

Call for Funds...

Due to our recent success, we will be creating a new website very soon. We will be selling banner ads that help us pay for the out of pocket expenses to keep CCH afloat. If you are interested in placing a banner ad on the site, please contact us. We are also looking for a corporate sponsor for our 80's Roller Skating Party in June which will benefit LoveisRespect.org for teen dating violence issues as well as an underwriter for the 2nd Annual BRAtober which will benefit Bright Pink. These need to be secured ASAP to continue with planning so if you or anyone you know is interested, holler!

Now Through April 10 - Cards for Cancer

Are you ready to give a Spirit Jump?
Thanks to peep Ozgur and chick Michelle for heading up this project for the team. On Saturday April 10th Spirit Jump and team leaders around the world will bring bags of cards to their local cancer centers to be given to those battling cancer.

Cards can be collected by asking family members, friends, neighbors, schools, youth groups or just about anyway you can think of getting them. Cards can be handmade or store bought and should have a positive message to help JUMP the SPIRIT of someone who is battling cancer.

If you plan to make cards or want to purchase them and write a positive message, please contact us so our team can give TONS 'o CARDS to those that need a spirit jump!

April 24 - Puppy Love

We are planning a pet-friendly event to benefit Texas Hearing & Service Dogs - stay tuned for details!

Please email ASAP if interested.

October 1st - 2nd Annual BRAtober planning is underway: The beneficiary for this years event will be Bright Pink and we are in need of volunteers for a few duties to get us ready for the event.
We are also looking for an underwriter for this event as well as any companies that would like to promote within their organization.

Please send us an email if you're interested in the above opportunities.

January 19 - Crave a Cure

80 charity chicks, peeps and supporters enjoyed a fab happy hour event at Crave Sushi. Through your generosity, we raised over $1,500 in just 3 short hours, with net proceeds donated to Young Texans Against Cancer (YTAC). Thanks to Darren J. Sabino Photography for the awesome pics!
January 31 - YTAC Olympics

As a part of fundraising and awareness initiatives for Young Texans Against Cancer (YTAC), the first annual YTAC Olympics were held on January 31 at Spotts Park in Houston.

Over 20 teams competed in adult field day events including tug-o-war, relay race, tricycle race (Jayme and Justin single-handedly lost this for us!), obstacle course and hot shot.

It was a cold day, but that didn't phase us! Even though we didn't walk away with an award (but a little birdy, er JUDGE, did tell us we were the hottest team there), we're pretty sure we were the real winners of the tug-o-war and the spirit award!

And a thanks for the PEEPS on our team, who were the only guys on the field man enough to wear HOT PINK team shirts! Stay tuned for this event next year... we plan to participate with a ton of Charity Chicks teams. We had a blast and a big thanks to YTAC and their sponsors for putting the shin-dig together.
February 11 - Beads for Deeds: Fanatical Change Beeds for Deads

The rain couldn't keep our spirits down! We were excited to partner with the Fanatical Change Foundation, a unique and powerful group that raises funds for Houston families who have suffered a recent tragic loss.

We had a fabulous time dancing to the zydeco band, collecting our beads (for good deeds only, of course) bidding on auction items and helping local residents. Every single dollar raised was used the next day to purchase goods and services for families during their greatest time of need.

Thanks to our amazing chick and co-worker, Natalie for putting together this life changing video to show what the money went to!
