Discounted Astros Tickets for a Good Cause

Joe Francisco, Man of The Year Nominee Doing Work at MMP

Not long ago we told you about Joe – one of our favorite peeps who has been nominated for LLS Man Of The Year.

In honor of his campaign, take advantage of discounted Houston Astros tickets on Saturday, May 5th, in conjunction with The Art Institute of Houston, Sysco, and Aramark, as they host a ‘Chef Competition’ featuring three groups of students chefs from the Art Institute who will be creating the next ‘ballpark food’.

Tickets are $29 with a portion benefiting the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. The cost includes a sample of the food created by the students as well as a drink, and ticket to the game. Visit www.astros.com/LLS for more information and to buy tickets.

(Note, anyone can buy tickets using this link – even that nosey neighbor across the street – it all helps the same wonderful cause, so please spread the word!)

We’ll all plan to meet at Luckys (on the corner of Rusk and St. Emanuel) before and after the game for a few beers and to cheer him on.

Come Kick Balls With Us?

We’ve talked about partnering with SportsMonkey for ages, and well kids, it’s finally happened!

We know it may seem really far off, but truth be told, June 9th is right around the hot sticky Houston corner. And we are ready for some kickball.

Thanks to Shock Top (a deliciously refreshing beverage), we are sponsoring our first annual Kickin’ Ball and Fightin’ Cancer kickball tournament at Memorial Park. The event will be a blast (think free beer and hopefully mimosas, snacks, DJ, lots of hot girls and guys) and it will be for an even greater cause – Friday Harbour.

There are only spots for 8 teams left (teams can be 10-12 people with AT LEAST 3 girls). Sign up today. If you know you want to do it, we encourage you to go ahead and sign up (it’s only $250, for an all day tourney) and then collect money from friends or sponsors later. Because after all, too late is just that…too late.

(Thanks to Melissa Sims for the awesome design of our flyer!)

iCatching Events Helps To Target Hunger

We love playing matchmaker – we’re girls, so it’s fitting. And we’re not talking couples (I’m single, so I highly doubt I’ll be setting up other chicks before myself, but that’s FAR off my point…), but businesses and charities – that kind of matchmaking!

Jody Torrence of iCatching Events has been one of our biggest supporters since the first year we started (late 2008).

It wasn’t long ago one of our chicks introduced us to Target Hunger. And then voila, the stars magically aligned and the high-end Houston event planning company started to work with Target Hunger one their biggest event of the year. Sounds almost like a fairy tale right? Especially if you see the pictures of their event – it looks like a fairy tale!

The two groups together are a powerhouse – check out the blog on what iCatching Events did at the Target Hunger gala – you’ll be impressed.

And remember, if you’re looking for an event planner in Houston – big or small, you should look up Jody with iCatching Events. And if you’re looking for a local non-profit looking to shape the Houston community and fight hunger, then you definitely need to check out Target Hunger.

Our job here is done. At least for now. We’ll continue playing little matchmakers from our corner of the world.
